Tomorrow, students from Parkland will be in Tallahassee to keep guns out of our schools – and they need your help.

These bills, SB 7030 and HB 7093, are the wrong choice for school security. Not only does it seek to put guns in the hands of untrained teachers and other support staff, it also invades student privacy by surveilling student activity and sharing sensitive student information without safeguards. None of these proposals are supported by evidence. In fact, they take resources away from other vitally needed educational programs. They’re hoping they can rush these changes through quickly and close off Floridians’ ability to directly make important changes like raising the minimum wage, expanding Medicaid coverage for low-income people or legalizing and regulating marijuana
