The Florida legislature is rapidly advancing a bill to arm Florida's K-12 teachers.
The legislation would arm Florida teachers and divert education funds from proven solutions to cover the costs.
Arming teachers puts children, educators, and staff at Call your legislatorsCall your legislatorsgreater risk of gun violence in our schools, and we urgently need to tell our state representatives and senators to vote NO on this dangerous bill before they take a vote.
Dear Lawmaker,
As your constituent, I urge you to oppose SB 7030/HB 7093 and any measures that would expand the Guardian program to include arming teachers.
An overwhelming body of evidence indicates that arming teachers puts children and the school community at a greater risk of gun violence in our schools, and would impede the response of law enforcement to an active shooter incident.
For this reason, SB 7030/HB 7093 is opposed by law enforcement, educators, students, and parents across Florida.
Instead, our leaders should be passing measures proven effective at reducing gun violence, like closing the background check loophole by requiring a background check on all gun sales in Florida.
Please vote NO on SB 7030/HB 7093 and oppose any measures that would arm school teachers.
