If
you are one of the 130
million Americans with a pre-existing condition, can you afford premium
increases or worse, no coverage if the ACA is repealed?
Are
you on Medicaid or have a
loved one in a nursing home on Medicaid? They may be denied a place or
asked to leave due to cuts. Are you prepared to take care of them at home? TrumpCare makes the deepest cuts to Medicaid
in its 52-year history in order to give billions of dollars in tax breaks to
the wealthy and corporations.
If
your company is presently mandated
to offer you health insurance, what happens when this requirement is gone
if the ACA is repealed?
Do
you know someone or are
you dealing with an addiction problem? Although McConnell will throw
extra monies around to certain states to change their Senator’s vote to yes,
overall as a country there will be less resources available to handle this
problem. Talk with law enforcement if you do not believe this crisis is of epidemic
proportions in St. Johns County.
We now have a bill text and CBO
score for the Senate version of TrumpCare. Here’s what we know:
- 22 million of Americans would lose their healthcare coverage, including 15 million from Medicaid alone, all to give $700 billion in tax breaks to corporations and the ultra-rich.
- Out-of-pocket costs would increase for all Americans, and coverage would be skimpier than under the ACA. For someone at the poverty level, the deductible would be half of their annual income.
- TrumpCare would allow states to opt-out of critical patient protections that ensure insurance covers vital services, which fails Americans with pre-existing conditions and undermines the battle against the opioid epidemic.
In this crucial week for the fate of
TrumpCare, calls and visits to your Senator’s district office matter more than
ever. If your Senator is one of the key Republicans who has come
out against the bill, make sure they stay a no. McConnell will try to win
their vote with any
number of token changes—don’t let them fall for it.
All Senators (Democrats,
Independents, Republicans) need to hear from you, but there are 11 Senators in
10 states who need special attention. If you know someone that lives in Alaska,
Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Maine, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or
West Virginia encourage them to make those calls, send those emails, ResistBot
(Text
'RESIST" to 50409).
The next two weeks will be critical.
Make your voices heard.
If you haven’t already done so, program the following numbers
into your phone. If you get a
voice mail recording, be sure to leave a message and call the alternate number.
Then send an email, then ResistBot.
