Indivisible St Johns are you interested in meeting to discuss commonly read
books about the current state of politics in America? Want to add to your
historical perspective? Then come join us in a new book club – Progressive
Readers St Johns. We are just starting this endeavor, and you can be an
important member. We need book suggestions (a few are below), members to host,
and depending on interest level, members to lead discussion.

Elegy by J.D. Vance
Personal
family history of poverty and low paying jobs in Appalachia. The author blames
the “hillbilly culture” for the economic insecurity that drove this region from
Democratic strength to Republican leanings. He also talks about the lack of
work ethic in the region and the government’s role in causing it.

the 2000s. This is a concise readable narrative of American political history
and culture.
