or improve your canvassing skills by applying the latest techniques, Deep
Canvassing, at this healthcare canvassing event. The "Listening Project" is
up to 10 times more successful than phone banking at affecting people's opinions
and has many times longer persistence.
The
exercise will focus on health care and people’s opinions about it. This will be
a nationwide project involving thousands of respondents. Best of all, it will
allow us to gear up for the upcoming elections where we can affect a color
change to St Johns County.
Volunteers
will meet for an hour of prep and training followed by two hours of canvassing
in pairs with prepared material. The goal is for each pair of volunteer canvassers to have five conversations with respondents. Afterwards, we will meet and debrief
before celebrating our efforts. All materials will be provided.
This
is an opportunity for you to gain experience in canvassing, develop your skills
in active listening, and have an influence on the next election cycle.
Everyone participating in this Event will be
required to abide by all applicable laws and lawful orders of authorities. This
Event will be nonviolent and will not involve any civil disobedience or other
violation of law.
