ONGOING BUT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY ACTIONS

“CLIMATE CHANGE, SEA LEVEL RISE, and NATIVE PLANT ECOSYSTEMS” PRESENTED BY DR. JACK PUTZ, of the UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 7:00 PM, TUESDAY, SEPT. 17, AT UNITARIAN-UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP

FNPS Sea Oats Chapter and the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship will be hosting this timely and important program. Dr. Putz, Professor of Botany, has also studied Forestry and has done substantial research around the globe. He is a well-respected authority on native plants and climate change. He will explore the role of native plant ecosystems in mitigating climate change and sea level rise, and ways we all can help become more resilient using native plants and trees in our landscape and in urban landscapes. --- UU is located at 2487 A1A South, just south of St. Augustine Beach City Hall--

THIS OF COURSE, AFTER WE

WEAR SOME WHITE AND SHOW UP TO SAVE GUANA
AGAIN!

This development would create polluted run-off into the Guana River and the GTM Research Reserve, and endanger this precious wildlife habitat. Whether or not you were at Tuesday evening's meeting, here are two ways you can participate in this this important local environmental cause:

WRITING EMAILS:
We're asking you to WRITE EMAILS NOW. Email addresses of local decision makers, and supportive points, are available at  https://www.saveguananow.org The Ponte Vedra Corporation, a subsidiary of the Gate Corporation, is the property owner that wants to develop the land.

ATTENDING PUBLIC MEETINGS:
The greater attendance we have, the better our chances we have of defeating this development.

• On Tuesday, September 17th, there will be a transmittal hearing at the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meeting. This hearing will also be at the County Administration Building, in the morning, either 9:00 am or 10:00 am. The exact time will be posted at the above website when it is known; best to check the above website on Monday, September 16th. The white shirt request applies to this meeting, also.

To: St. Johns County Commissioners: Paul Waldron, Chair, Jeb Smith, Vice-Chair, Jeremiah Ray Blocker, James Johns, Henry Dean, 500 San Sebastian View   St. Augustine, FL. 32084   P: (904) 209-0300
Warmer water fueled Dorian’s 185mph devastation. We could be next.   The U.N. calls for planting a trillion trees to sequester carbon emissions. But, lax County ordinances allow clear cutting our canopy! We are not Brazil!
Public opinion wants strict protections for our canopy. Will you do that, please?

To: Sen. Rubio, Sen. Scott   U.S. Senate, Washington, D.C. 20510   Capitol operator: 202-224-3121
To: Rep. John Rutherford (St. Johns) Rep. Michael Waltz (St. Johns, Flagler) Rep. Ted Yoho (Putnam Co.)        U.S. House, Washington, D.C.  20515     Capitol operators: 202-224-3121
Hurricane Dorian was not a freak storm.
Warmer oceans simply generate much stronger storms.
We must sequester much more of our carbon emissions.
Will you co-sponsor The Climate Stewardship Act of 2019?
