Tell Our Senators to Keep Protections in Place to Reduce Methane Pollution

The Senate is trying to reverse an Obama rule that reduces Methane pollution (which warms the atmosphere 30 times more than CO2).  This issue is urgent because the Senate only has until next week (May 9th or 10th) to take action.  Please call your Senators and urge them to vote AGAINST S.J. Res. 11 and keep protections in place to reduce Methane pollution.

The oil/gas industry's argument is that when they drill for oil/gas, it's already in their financial interest to capture Methane emissions and sell them as natural gas rather than let them escape into the atmosphere.  But they also admit that updating to new technology to capture Methane isn't always cost-effective on old, low-producing wells.  In other words, the industry wants to reverse the Obama rule because they want to release Methane into the atmosphere when it benefits their bottom line.  This argument is no different than any other industrial polluter - save money at the expense of people and the environment.

The resolution's full title (some Congressional staff ask for this):

S.J.Res. 11: A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the final rule of the Bureau of Land Management relating to “Waste Prevention, Production Subject to Royalties, and Resource Conservation”.
