If you want to help secure our democracy, there's a lot you can be working on these days.  Find  something you feel comfortable with and jump in.  It may well make a difference and you'll certainly feel better for it.

Let's keep writing those letters--you can help via Blue Wave Coalition or Sierra Club or Vote Forward.  Help get those people who are not in the habit of voting to either vote by mail or in person!

Can you help us Keep Our Children Safe?

Governor Ron DeSantis is working overtime to pressure local counties into moving into Phase 2 of reopening before they are ready. He is playing games with the data just to support his agenda.

Once the Governor forces South Florida counties (Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade) into Phase 2 of reopening, many South Florida public schools will also be forced to reopen one week later for in-person brick-and-mortar schooling, a very dangerous choice.

In the state of Florida, there have been 47,762 cases of COVID-19 in children since March 2020, with 596 that have been admitted to the hospital.

It is UNETHICAL and a risk to PUBLIC SAFETY to gather for in-person classes in Florida when pediatric cases are at their highest point EVER in the state and increasing at a alarming rate. In August alone, over 550 COVID positive children have been diagnosed EVERY DAY. Every single hour in Florida, 23 children are diagnosed with COVID.

We cannot allow our governor, who has repeatedly claimed that COVID does not impact children, to force local officials into putting our children in danger.

We must send a CLEAR message to our elected leaders that we want them to listen to our scientists and doctors about when and how we should reopen safely.

Governor DeSantis is overstepping. Local leaders should make the choice of when our communities are ready to enter the next phase of reopening. Local leaders have the power of Home Rule and need to exercise it NOW to prevent DeSantis from further harming our community and putting our teachers, children, and community at risk.

Click here and with one click you can send a letter to Florida leaders to Keep Our Children Safe.

Thanks in advance for your support,
Laurie, Ana, and Jayme (Broward for Progress)

This event has passed; however, here we have a presentation and video link to the powerful presentation held with Dr. Dale Anderson as he discussed Voter Suppression and Democracy Degradation.  Dr. Anderson was amazing and he is kind enough to share this with us in hopes that we share his message with people we know.

ZOOM SOCIALS-- We know how to play too!

Our Zoom social Friday night was a blast!  We had so much fun and we laughed till the tears rolled down our legs!  Great conversation, and yes, some politics did sneak into the conversation.  We'd like to have another one.  If you missed the last one, come and join the party!
