We are saddened by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg who was a movement sister that championed democracy and the rule of law.

Unfortunately, with no respect for this great loss to our nation, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is already positioning Trump's next pick to fill the vacant seat.

Mitch McConnell's hypocrisy can not be overlooked. Mitch McConnell stonewalled Obama's pick of Merrick Garland for 236 days in waiting for Trump to become the president-elect. Right now there are 46 days until a new president is elected.

Justice Ginsberg shared this statement with her granddaughter "My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."

Let's celebrate RBG's legacy with action and sign on to this letter campaign that will be delivered to Florida Senator's Marco Rubio and Rick Scott. We are urging them to come out publicly and announce their agreement with a past statement made by Mitch McConnell stated, "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president."

From Warren Clark:  Today we wrote to 200 Florida registered voters who were not likely to vote. We did this through voteforward.org.   We will meet again next Thursday from 2-3 pm, at Growers' Alliance Coffee House, 322 Anastasia Blvd.   Meeting every Thursday through October.
You can do this at home. Register at VoteForward.org. It's easy. You can download letters already prepared to send to soft voters.

No Contact Candidate Lit Drop!

Let's reach out to left-leaning NPA voters to promote our candidates!

We'll simply hang a bag of candidate literature on the doors of NPA voters we believe are left-leaning.  No door knocking or talking to voters; and masks, gloves and 
sanitizer will be provided.

Literature will be distributed for our candidates in partisan and nonpartisan races separately.  (Want to avoid tipping off any right-leaning voters of the party affiliation of candidates in our 
non-partisan races--could be counterproductive!).  Volunteers will pick up a list of voters and bags of lit any time during the weekends shown below from 9 am to 9 pm.  THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!

What: Get-Out-the-Vote! DEMs with VBM
When: Sat, Sep 26 - Mon, Oct 19

Mail ballots will begin to be delivered to voters on Sept. 24th. We need to contact DEMs with vote-by-mail (VBM) to educate them on how to return their ballots to ensure they are counted. Many are voting by mail for the first time and may be confused by misinformation. We will inform them about Drop Boxes, deadlines, and how to track their ballot online, among other things. Since we can't canvass voters, we'll chat with DEMs who have cell phones via text messages, call DEMs with landlines only, and hang information on the doors of VBM DEMs with no listed phone number.

NATIVE AMERICAN VOTING RIGHTS

Native Americans are in a uniquely difficult position as they attempt to exercise their right to vote.  While voting by mail options have expanded accessibility for many citizens in the U.S., requiring a physical address makes it nearly impossible for many Native Americans to take advantage of this option.  Unreliable broadband access, plus voter systems that do not accept tribal IDs, present additional roadblocks.  Let's read more about the voter suppression taking place.  Then, let's join the Lakota People's Law project and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and encourage our MoC to pass the Native American Voting Rights Act (NAVRA) (H.R.1694/S.739) to expand and protect voting rights.

HELP FLORIDA FORMER PRISONERS PAY FINES TO RESTORE THEIR VOTING RIGHTS
As we in Florida are well aware, Florida is one of the states that may decide the election and with the close race tightening, voter suppression is in full swing, especially with the latest decision by the courts regarding voter restoration.  The latest target is former prisoners, who recently fought a hard-won battle to get their voting rights restored, only to be required to pay fines and fees before they can vote.
We Got the Vote  is collecting money to help pay these fees and restore these voting rights.  If we are able to donate, we can learn more and donate here.  Whether we donate or not, we can also help spread the word on social media.  Especially now, especially in Florida, every vote counts:  https://wegotthevote.org/finesandfees/

You can do one small thing to save the post office

The plight of our nation's postal service may not be making as many headlines right now but we are still in danger of losing this vital service.

The Senate is only in session for a few short weeks before the Election.  Your postal worker urgently needs your help to get the USPS financial relief bill passed before then.


You can also email/call  your senators with a message to fund the post office.
